Magic
Watched Josh in june24 as sideman forBonammasa found it frustrating he was straining holding back all through.
What's all that buzzing in the background? I have ears like a bat!! 🦇
So amazing - thank you both. Jubu is a legend and a very real person.
what pickups are in that tele ? they are not the sig set I know that. please share
A lollar in the neck and a custom Bill Chapin wind in the bridge.
can someone pls tell me songs that have that intro and phrasing 3:17?
Josh Smith, first, thank you for this Master Class! Brilliant material that takes a good part of your life to learn so thanks for sharing! I have an important question to ask. When you are improvising these types of changes (adding a 3,6,2,5,1 to get to the 4 OR mabye using a diminished idea to get to your next chord etc) do you need to coordinate with the bass player on these ideas? Will it be a bit mess if he's doing a walking bass line and using his own progression to get to the 4 for instance, or will it just be a divergence of ideas that both land in the same place in a satisfying way? I'm just wondering how this all works with the bass player. I'd love to hear your thoughts! Thanks!
Excellent. My brain is buzzing!
Very nice playing and great tone !
Albert Collins a dynamite blues guitar player
He use to walk in the rehearsal rm pick up his guitar turn on the amp and rip into arpeggios but that's when he was 17 i was twenty two and we were rock stars forsure without a doubt
I remember when we were in COD together in South Carolina he use to walk around making chords and phrases on his arm he was so bad ass i have recordings i listen to now and still it's so fresh when we did cover tunes we did them our own way he's right we were the baddest band around our rythm rhythm section was wes and Jason sturgis from shattered liberty and influential habits with mike Sullivan those were some good times me wes and shane all ended up in Hollywood eventually
great interview, really enjoyed it
1:39 Rotary Vibrotone 6:25 8:20
I use the Eno (Chinese) octaver and I crank the octave up and turn the dry and sub octaves down. It's perfect and it was $30.
You guys are two of my favourite guitarists. Thank you this was a great interview 🙂🎶👍🎸
Hard to call something underrated when it sells for 4-5grand a pop
What kind of ride cymbal is Lamar using here? I like that ride. I'm here due to recommendations for listening by Bobby Harrison with is blues guitar course. There is a lot of good drumming in here as well so that's a bonus.
I was working out a version of Golden Time of Day and ran across Big D playing a cover of it and was blown away! What a beast! I've always been a Jubu fan.
Great interview Josh..I remember Stevie Ray and double trouble when it came out ...one of the best rhythm section
52:00 "Contentment" I like that..
Right around 17:40. George Cables!! I forgot about George Cables! Bruce did a duet record with Cables back in the 80's! There was a killer version of "I Mean You" on that album. Back when he was using that old L-5!
So glad I watched this…..thank you !
This is hilarious. Josh’s practice sessions sound better than 99.9% of the crap on the radio with 1000% more talent and feel.
Superb tune 🎶🎸
Josh is definitely the best blues player alive at the moment his taste and style is unbelievable love this guy's music and hope to see him stick around a long time there aren't many left like him
It's criminal how underappreciated Josh Smith is.....guy makes quality music with quality musicians. People all over youtube watch him talk about technique, gear, but literally don't actually listen to him...shit blows my mind
Music isn’ a competition, I like their friendship, and their way of playing, but I prefer Bruce, it’s easier to play with overdrive
Hi Josh, I've just bought this pedal. I'm planning on this being my only drive and using midi to change presets. How do I save my presets on this thing?
Harlem Nocture is to die for!
Funny stuff josh ,,playing along with your favorite records,,,,I DID THE SAME THING IN THE 70s 80s ,,,,GREAT STUFF , THATS THE METRONOME,,,THE RECORD, MORE OF THE HUMAN FEEL.
What ever happened to this sort of content. Bring back the pandemic?
This song is amazing!!! I love when you use open strings. Sounds so bluesy!!!
This is not easy rhythm guitar three chord chops. I remember seeing Bruce at the Rainbow Ballroom in Fresno, CA. He was in high school at the time, too.
I bought one of these, used and beaten-up, for about £50, in 1979, from a guy my dad worked with at London Underground, formerly London Transport. According to my dad, the guy's name was Alan Cartwright, ex Procul Harum! Unfortunately, I couldn't really use it, as it needed a complete overhaul, and at 16, I had no money. I did use it in a hall for band rehearsal once, where it gave me an electric shock, but it was WAY too loud for my bedroom. I wish I still had it ☹️
it sounds harsh ..overall
I'd always support Ian "getting carried off innthe moment" live and keep going for it. We're all there to hear you play and sing. We can listen to your studio recordings whenever, but live = go for it!! 😊
You’re doing a great job of getting Danny’s stuff…check out Homage To Charlie Christian on Unfinished Business…speed is unbelievable…in an interview he said it wasn’t sped up…amazing
really enjoyed this video, struggled to follow, but thoughrougly enjoyed. Will return to it with my guitar and bits of paper. as I don't have it in my head..
What a beautiful clean sound I’m in love ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Really beautiful. loved it.
I cant find any good recordings of Danny ? maybe the quality just wasnt that great on his records??
🤯
So glad to hear Scott mention Ted Greene and acknowledge his mindset, too many of these guys these days overlook Ted Greene and the notion of playing guitar for the sake of playing guitar for yourself and no other reason. Screw fame and making videos, playing guitar is so rewarding on its own.
Love your style. Cheers John Smith! Vomit in my Mouth.
Great stories about his dad.
josh smith anda sangat menginspirasi tetaplah bermain musik jazz blues dan bagikan pelajaran gitar terimakasih God bless u
Unless one pickup is wired "backwards", or its magnet(s) are flipped, it's not actually out of phase.
Into a Leslie, wow! Sounds like an actual organ!
JOSH,IT'S ALMOST TIME TO BREAK OUT,YOU GOT THIS. GOOD JOB, WELL DONE
Great stuff! Thanks for sharing!
